Revised rules regulating
student behavior In Portland
Public Schools are available
now in booklet form, John H.
N e llo r, D ire cto r of Public In­
formation announced today.
The booklet, entitled "Stu­
dent Rights and Responsibil­
ities' . is a comprehensive
listing of rules governing stu­
dent behavior on Portland
school premises. It is a mix­
ture of d istrict policies and
state laws.
According to N ellor, new
booklets are being distribu­
ted as required by Oregon law.
"W e are providingeach stu­
dent in grades 4-12 with a
copy." says N ello r. "In ad­
dition, we are mailing copies
to parents or guardians of all
students.”

A new Women’ s Psycho­
logical Clinic Is open at Port­
land Stale University to make
counseling available to wo­
men in the ent.hS community.

The women's clinic w ill al­
so provide clinical practicum
experience
for psychology
graduate students and w ill
serve as a basis for aca­
demic research relating to
the practice of clinical psy­
chology with both supervised
by qualified clinical psychol­
ogists.
The clinic is unhjue In the
sense that It Is self-support­
ing and "w ill deliver and ad­
m inister a serviceexclusively
for women, by women," ac­
cording to Carol Cygl, one of
its founders and a graduate
student in Urban Studies at
PSD.
"Many women want coun­
seling from other women ra­
ther than men because they
feel a woman can le tte r un­
derstand and identify with
them as they work out their
personal, educational o r vo­
cational
problems,”
Cygi
said. "Therefore, the clinic
staff w ill be dealing with a
broad range of problems par­
ticular to women."
Gygi and Courtney Good-
monson, a psychology doctor­
al student, w ill staff tie venter
with the help of qualified
clinical and counseling psy­
chologists including Julia Sas-
low from the PSU Counsel­
ing Center, operating hours
fo r individual counseling are
tentatively set for 9 a jn . to
3 pjn.M onday through Friday,
and on Saturday for group
counseling.

charge a fee for its services,
