Processors inject them with
a limited amount (now 3 per
cent) of basting solution which
is later released throughout
the meat as the bird is
roasting.
It improves the
poultry's texture and flavor.
The solutions range from
straight butter to mixtures of
oil and water in various por
tions.
Oils used are those
normally found in margarine,
such as cottonseed, soy, co
conut, o r corn oil.
Basting solutions may also
contain turkey broth, plus ad
ded flavoring and preserving
ingredients and anti-oxtdant
agents. USDA, approves the

of 75 female lawyers, archi
tects and physicians perceived
their mothers as it« parent
who motivated their Interest
in pursuing careers as pro

Health and Human Develop
ment at a meeting of the
American Psychological Ai
soclatlon.

vestigators.^the women felt
that their mothers were every
bit as bright, competent and
ambitious as their fathers,
tu t were unfulfilled in their
expreaaloo of these qualities.
