Bus transportation w ill be provided fo r children living near the Model C ities area, to the sites of the program - Concordia College and Adams High School. Basketball, softball, track, tennis, football and gymnas tics w ill be the m ajor activi ties emphasized. Lee, V a , are doing a lot ofwalking these days, so that other sol diers might march more com fortably. The seven are par ticipating in a three-month hiking project designed to test the durability and endurance of the stitching, leather and soles of Arm y combat boots. The seven volunteers walk 15 m iles a day, five days a week around a 7.5 mile ob stacle course of rocks, sand piles, elevated stairs and a variety of jumps. A fte r th e ir boots wear out or cover 700m iles, whichever comes firs t, the boots are closely studied to see which areas have worn the most. It's all part of the A rm y’ s search to provide better clothing and equlfxnent fo r American sol diers. As fo r the seven test walk ers? QUESTION Do enlisted men receive any type of clothing allowance? Yes. Clothing allowances are paid to enlisted members of the Arm y after they com plete six months of service.
