however, the number of spaces
available to Oregon and Idaho
enlistees has increased dra

Senior Citizens Association
last week M r. Phil Reynolds
was chosen as Senior Citizen
fo r 1971. Known as ,*Chlef*,
among his intimate friends,
M r. Reynolds was active in
community and national o r
ganizations. He was father of
the NAACP Federal C redit
Union, and is a past president
of the NAACP chapter of P ort
land.
F o r many years M r. Rey
nolds was a supervisor for the
Red Caps at the Union Station
and also kept himself txisy by
devoting his time to working
with the Urban League.
M r. Reynolds and his wile,
E lsie , have three boys and
one g ir l. He is a charter mem
ber of the Railroad Senior C it
izens Association of Portland
and is greatly loved by a ll.

the Portland Branch, NAACP,
w ill hold a special meeting at
7:30 pm with M r. Edward B.
Muse, D ire cto r of the Life
Membership division of the
national NAACP staff in New
York C ity, as the speaker. The
headquarters at 2752 N .W il
liams Avenue.
In an a rticle published by
Ebony Magazine, NAACP Life
members were called the
"H onor Guard of the N AA C P".

of Washington, w ill be key
note speaker at the fourth
annual accounting conference
sponsored by the National
Association of Accountants
and the Schools of Business

The all-day conference w ill
run from 8:30ajn.to4:15p.m .

assistant a t the Columbia
U niversity Bureau of Applied
Social Research, where he
participated in studies on at
titudes between racial, re li
gious and ethnic groups.
As a volunteer, M r. Muse
has held high positions with
the New York C ity Branch of
the NAACP and was founder
of the Greenwich Vtllage-
Chelsea Branch. He is a past
president of the Greenwich-
V illage - ChelseaCpenNeigh
borhood Committee
an o r
ganization founded to combat
racial and religious bias in
the rental and sale of apart
ments. He is a form er pres
ident of the GreenwichVillage
Brotherhood Committee.
