T.L.STRAYH AN D A father very concerned about • his son and fearful that his son had lost all interest in the church asked the m in iste r to speak to his son. The father pre sented his reasons fo r scarce attendance at church but he had so much to do and often on Sunday morning was the only time he could get out with his friends on the golf course be cause of the crowd wanting to play and 11 o’clock on Sunday was often tee time on the golf to go to church and keep up the interest. The m inister approached the boy self confidently and said to him, 'I should think you would want to keep your interest in the church if fo r no other reason than the fact that your father is interested in you and in the church. The boy asked the m inister, "D o you know how much my father gives to the church each year?" The m inister began to loose fo r a while and said, " I really do not know the exact amount but I know he is one of our most generous members. I would say he gives about five dollars a Sunday." I would suggest you ask him to give at least $500.00 a year to the church, ask him to come to church with me and then you come back and talk with me after we find out how much he really c a re s ." Because we are deluded into surrender ing to him our liberties in the name o f progress and security. "W hose shoes do you polish?" W hen a man fails to nut God at the center o f his life, he turns to the superman. T h e destiny o f man is to g lo rify God and serve his fellowm an. A ll else is fu tility of direction.
