NEW YORK. June 20. The trend ot
prices In today's bond market was mam
ly upward, but dealings were small and
Irregular compareu with the breadth
aad atrengtn manifested by the stock
list.
Liberties were steady during the first
half of the session, but moderate losses
predominated at the end. '
Aside from Mexicans, especially the 6b.
which rose 2 points, foreign loans were
Inclined to ease. Dutch East Indies and

Short Line refunding 4s and Seaboard
4s and 6s strengthened. First mortgages
of the leading systems improved later
on the rise of stocks of that class, which
fo lowed announcement of the payment
f the regular Great Northern dividend.
llarland Oil issues, among the strong
est features of recent days, reacted on
the news that the common stock had
been placed on a dividend at a $4 an
nual rate. Total sales, par value, ag
resated $14,981,000. "
New underwriting aggregating about
$16,000,000 were offered and readily
marketed. Of these the most promi
nent was the J9.000.000 State of North
, Carolina 4 per cent highway bonds,
old at a price yieiamg Between .oo ana
440 per cent.
Mexican Petroleum again was the star
performer In today's active and strong
took market. It made an extreme ad
Vance of 1H4 points with a net gain of
9tt. or a total ot 23 points above last
week's final price.
At times traders seemed to regard the
Extraordinary , operations in "Mexican
Fete" as something ot a menace to the
general market. Intimations of a "cor
ner" were scouted, however, the opinion
Mill prevailing that the movement was
mainly leveled against an extensive short
Interest.
Other oils In the foreign and domestic
croups registered gross advances of 2
to almost 5 points and the independent
teels were equally strong, with a sudden
burst of activity at higher levels for
United States Steel in the final hours.
Next to oils Studebaker was the lead
big stock, its net gain of 6 points to
the year's high record being associated,
with rumors of increased or extra divi
dends in the near future. ,
Baldwin was foremost among the
I aquipments on Its gain of 4 points

Woolen, Tobacco Products. Mercantile
Marine, preferred, and Mallinson.
Rails lagged until- the latter part of
the day when news of the declaration of
the regular dividend of Great Northern
caused hurried buying of that stock at
a gain of 4 points. Northern Pacific
advanced 2 points and several coalers
and trunk lines, especially Reading &
New Haven, strengthened substantially.
Sales totaled 1,050,000 shares.
Developments which accelerated the
day's upward trend included a vigor
ous rebound in leading foreign exchanges,
advices that the middle western steel
and iron mills were running behind in
deliveries and declaration of Initial
dividends on Marland Oil.
The money market followed yester
day's course, save for the free supplies
of 30fjz'90-day funds. Call loans eased
from 3 to 2 per cent at midday and
private offerings of this character were
reported at 2 per cent.
The rally in international currencies
Harried sterling bills to fully 5c above
yesterday's lowest quotations, while re
coveries of 15 to 22 points in French,
Italian and Belgian remittances more
than effaced their losses of yesterday
and last Saturday. With the exception
Ot Swiss and Spanish rates, however,
the improvement did not extend to neu
tral centers, Dutch and Scandinavian
rates adding to yesterday's setback.

Ask us about the Logan 6s at prices to yield 64 for
both the long term and the short term bonds, income
tax exempt.
These bonds are a direct general tax obligation. In other
words, the-land owner cannot pay any tax separately. He
cannot pay his school tax without paying the tax for bond
principal and bond interest. He cannot pay his county tax
separately from the taxes for these bonds.
Whether the Logan District is prosperous or not is evidenced
by the fact that there is not a dollar of taxes delinquent in the
entire district back of 1920. We have heard a lot about
fanners of America being broke. Does this look as though
the Logan farmers are broke? Do you know of another 21.5
square miles of agricultural community that will compare
with it? We don't.
These bonds were issued eleven years ago and were held until
now by the Great Western Sugar Co. for its own reserve
investment.

"Packed Like
an Egg"
Moody's hating books, in four large
volumes, are packed like an egg with
facts and figures on Railroad, Industrial,
Public Utility and Government and Muni
cipal securities.
More than 50,000 bond and stock issues
are described, classified and rated, accord
( ing to their quality and other character
istics. . Further, the volumes are supplemented
throughout the year by monthly bulletins
of new and revised ratings, monthly bulle-
tins of current earnings, etc.
Thus, the Rating Book Service results as a
clearing house of financial and investment
facts and opinion, and as a sure guide to a
safe and sane method of investment selec
tion. Ask your bank or banker about this
Rating Book Service. He uses it,
and would not be without it.
