Judge Gives Alleged 'Hath Money'
Taker Chance to Earn Fees.
That John Weinberg might have
a chance to earn enough to par his

The action of the presiding Judge
was over the strenuous protest of

W cmberg, would receive no fee from
the state for defending him. Such
fees are paid only In murder cases.
Weinberg was broke." If released, be

54 Fire Alarms Oat of ISO Caused
by Grass Fires.
Statistics gathered In the fire bu
reau by City Commissioner Blgelow
show that during th month of Au
gust 36 per cent of the alarms turned
In resulted from grass fires and 47
per cent of the calla from September
1 to September 19 resulted from the
tame cause.
In addition, Commissioner Blgelow
ttatet that In August one man wat
aeni from various fire houses to
quench grass firea S different times
and up to the present time In this
month the fire department hat been
required to send one man oat to put
grass fires under control 111 times.
"These figures show that the
grass-cutting campaign that Is now
being waged has greater purpose
than beautifying the city." said Com
missioner Blgelow. "Weeds and tall
grass are a fire menace, and when we
find that 14 fire alarms out of a
total of 150 In one month were
turned In because of grass fires, the
public will easily understand that we
r trying to protect public property
when we insist that the blgb grass
and weeds be removed."
