There was an ample supply of decidunna fruits on the market yesterday and the mll oes to England. During the war. the whole was good. Ship. New Zealand frozen lamb may figure ex tensively in the American market this sea son. Some of the packers declined to handle the product when it first came on the market, but they are now arranging to handle it. a they realize that it will be sold in this country anyway by Ca nadlan and English brokers. The butter market was firm and there was a good demand for cubes of the best grades. Extras sold at 56 cents, with most sellers asking 56 cents. There was nothing new In the print butter sit nation. A good many of the eggs coming in are weak and thin, but the supply is so light that the market remain, firm. Buying and selling price. were not changed. Poultry was In moderate supply and on account of the Interruption of steam ship service, caused by war conditions and by the need of using all available boat, for troop, and munitions, there were no refrigerator boats available to carry lambs and mutton from New Zealand to England or to-any other country. The re suit was an accumulation, in New Zealand. The British government purchased the en tire output of New Zealand lamb and mutton during the period of the war, and erected freezer storage warehouses to hold this product In New Zealand. At the close of the war refrigerated vessel, again became available and the shipment of frozen lamb and mutton from New Zealand to England was resumed. The British food ministry still controls the movement of this stock, including the production of 1920. which was bought by tbe British government. After boats were available, it naturally moved the product which had been in storage the longest to England first, but with such a large ac cumulation on hand, there was more than England could consume. This forced the British food ministry to find another out let and as prices were fairly high in the United States it decided to ship the 1920 production of New Zealand lambs and mut ton to thi. country, thus reducing the stock in New Zealand and converting it Into cash. The packer, declare th. recent sharp decline. In live lamb and sheep- prices are due chiefly to the .lumps In the values of wool and other by-products rather than the Importation of foreign lamb, SAN FRANCISCO PRODUCE MARKET Price.
