Get Date for Portland..
STRONGTEAM ANTICIPATED
Oregon antf Washington Will Have
Ample' Good Material for
-Teams 'ext Year.
While hone of the big coast college
football conference games appear on
the schedule for Portland, there still
Is a chance that local Jans may see. a
"big" game of the coming fall. Shy
Huntington, coach at the University
of Oregon, and Graduate Manager
McClain, were in Portland yesterday,
and , Shy gave out the information
that i both Oregon and Washington
State are successful in -winning all
the conference games now scheduled
these two elevens will play in Port
land early in December in the "real
tig game" of the season.
"It is not likely that both of us will
be able to get through the season
without a defeat," remarked Coach
Huntington. "But, stranger things
have happened, and there is always,
a chance." -- .
Strains Team Anticipated.
Coach Huntington expects to have
a. strong team next year if all of his
eligibles- return to college. Wash
ington and the Oregon Aggies also
will have a lot of good material for
their new coaches, AUiBOn and Ruth
erford. Hollis Huntington will be the chjef
back field loss by Oregon. However,
if Steers returns, along with the
Jacobbergers and Manerud, Shy ex
pects to have a good backfield, for he
has two or three iresnmen stars 10
fall back upon Ted King, Pete
Meade and Frank Hill, among them.
King weighs about 180 pounds and
in his preparatory days in Iowa was
chosen all-star fullback in the state.
Brandenberg will not be back in
school.
Games Are Scheduled.
In the line Anderson, Bartlett and
Baz Williams will be absent. At end.
Coach Huntington has Howard as
holdover and may use Brown, the
Baker lad. if Leslie returns for use
at tackle. If Leslie returns he, and
probably Shields o Stevenson; Wash.,
will occupy tackle berths. Shields is
a big fellow, tipping the beam at 200
pounds. Mautz, Harding and Edward
are leading candidates for guards,
and Brick Leslie is expected back for
duty at the center job. .
Oregon's schedule follows:
October 16. Multnomah club - or
Willamette at Eugene.
October 23. Idaho at Eugeiie.
October 30. Stanford at Palo Alto.
November 13. Washington at Eu
gene.
November
Corvallis.
November
20. Oregon' Aggies . at
25. Southern California
at Pasadena. :' v, ,
Ken Bartlett, Bart Spellman and
Baz Williams will assist Coach Hunt
ington and Trainer Hayward.
