PUBLIC TO HEAR LECTURE Campaign Launched to Protect ilea 1th by Guarding and Caring: for Teeth. The 27th annual session of the Ore gon State Dental association opened yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at the North Pacific Dental college yrith 250 members of the association and 25 visitors from other states in attend ance. From 9 until 10 A. M. the members registered and reported to their class captains. At 10 o'clock Dr. Weston A. Price of Cleveland delivered a lec ture on "A New Interpretation of Dental Inspections and their Oral and Systematic Expressions." Aa noon Dr. Arthur E. Smith of Chicago, Dr. A. A. Ward of San Francisco and Dr. B. T. Tinker of Minneapolis conducted classes which were followed by lunch eon at College Inn. Thre Clinics Held. Dr. M. C. Holbrook presided at the afternoon clinic on Radiography, and Dr. E. M. Griffin, Dr..W. R. Dingham and Dr. P. T. Meany held clinics on orthodontia. Dr. Jean Cline delivered e paper on "Crandall Restorations," while the clinic on pyorrhoea and prophylaxis was conducted by Dr. W. Claude Adams, Dr. E. W. Finzer, Dr. M. M. Bettman and Dr. G. M. Hoffman. The lecture to be given by Dr. Weston A. Price, M. .S-, D. D. S., of Cleveland last night on "A Detailed Procedure for Dental Diagnosis" was postponed until tonight, and Dr. A. W. Ward of San Francisco gave a talk on "Prophylaxis" instead. The lecture by Dr. Price was postponed in order that members of the medical profession who wish to hear it may attend. All sessions of the association are open to members of the medical profession, according to an announcement yester day by Dr. F. W. Hollister, presirent of the association. The session last night . closed with a rfiscussion which was opened by Dr. Byron Loomis. Seaaiona Today Start at 0. The session today opens at 9 o'clock with a talk by Dr. Tinker. His sub ject has not been announced. The re mainder of the morning session will be spent in classes, with Dr. Tinker, Dr. Ward and Dr. Smith and a visit to the exhibits. At 12:30 there will be a meeting of the house of dele gates in the lecture hall, and the classes will be resumed from 2 to 5 P. M. During these classes a clinic will be given by the Portland Pros thetic club. The lecture by Dr. Price will close today's session. The association wilj hold meetings every day this week and will close Saturday with a trip to the Columbia highway and a box luncheon at Bonneville park. The Oregon Dental association has spent more than $5000 to make this meeting a memorable one and to bring the five specialists from the east to give post graduate lectures. Accord ing to reports of the national asso ciation, the dentists of the north west have made greater progress in the past year than any dentists in the United States. On Wednesday night at 8 o'clock Dr. Price of Cleveland will deliver a lec ture, at the public library on "How Dental Affections May Injure the Health or Shorten the Life." This lec ture is open to the public and will be free of charge.
