12 THE 3IOKXIXG OREGOXIAX, MONDAY, DECEMBER f. 1919. : -V" I I ! I I j SALES MAY FEATURE IE Campaign Launched by Asso ciated Industries. RESOLUTION IS SENT OUT Home Products Dinner Will iii Tomorrow at Benson by Woman'- cl Club. lie To Oregon-made goods fea tured in the forthcoming January sales, will be the object of a cam paign begun by the Associated Indus tries of Oregon, under the direction Of Manager A. G. Clark. The plan links tip with the resent movement begun to increase sales of home made articles and thereby increase the business of the firms, allowing them to expand and to take on addi tional labor. Such a move was con- Photo by Grove. S. HnnNiill. new manager of the Portland Iron works. Bidered as vital to the success of the itmpaign now being carried on to find employment for all the returned soldiers and sailors, and proclama tions were issued recently by Gov ernor Olcsjtt. Mayor Uaker and mayors of other Oregon towns urging that Oregon-made goods be particularly favored during the next 90 days. Each of the stores of the city which is to have a January sale, and that is considered to mean about all of them, will be asked to feature the Oregon products, particularly so that these products now on the shelves may be moved quickly, giving room to restock with Oregon goods, and also that the people may become ac quainted with the local products. A strong response from the retailers is expected, in view of the fact that the movement has the double purpose of boosting home industries and of making more Jobs available for those who have returned after serving with the flag. A New Year's resolution on tho use of Oregon products, when they are found to be equal if not superior to outside goods in quality, service and price, is being distributed widely by the Associated Industries, and Oregon people are being asked to make the pledge. The resolution Is as follows: "Will you resolve with me? A man's good habits never get him In bad. That is why no hesitancy is felt in asking you to promise that during 1920 you will always give preference to Oregon products in your home and business, when the quality, service and price are equal. The next thing to being honest with yourself Is not to let others fool you. Payroll money finds its way into every channel of business and pro fessional life of this city and state. Therefore, part of the responsibility for next year's prosperity in Oregon Is up to you." A home products dinner will be held by the Women's Ad club tomor row night at the Benson hotel. Local manufacturers have arranged to do nate about 30 products, which will lie given away as prizes, and in ad dition two or three things will be jjiaceu ai every cover.
