The Seattle cigar merchant has no particular choice and will go to the turg offering the best Inducements. Judge McCredle and Nephew Walter live given no thought as yet to where the 1920 Portlanders will sweat and worry about their Jobs. It is not likely that the team will be taken back to Crockett. Walt has been taking teams to California for training purposes so long that he knows every inch of the atate and will not have much diffi culty in pickinc out a choice spot. e The Seals will in all probability do their 1320 training at Fresno. This was arranged by "Doc" Strub and Roy Payne. San Francieco officials, last spring. Games between the Seals and the Cubs are expected to be features 4t the spring programme there. Chicapo's Cubs will make their usual pilgrimage to California this spring. Several Stockyards city stockholders have winter homes in -the Bear atate and. being desirious of seeing their champions-to-be perform, merely press the well-known button and order Manager Mitchell to Journey across the mountains. Pitcher Del Crespi has obtained his release from Sacramento and is view ing the games in San Francisco from the grandstand. Although Cincinnati lost yesterday. the Giants made no gain., for Chicago held McOraw's men even. Nehf beat "Speed"' Martin, former Oak. 7 to 1 in the second game. "Speed" allowed ten hits. Hughie Jennings' ag gregation looks like a championship outfit on paper and. although it has been playing good baseball, seems un able to get started on a winning streak, which is necessary for either Detroit or Cleveland to threaten the White Sox. Cleveland has performed lately, to a large measure. Just like the Tigers. SENATORS TAKE TWO Seattle Suffers Double Defeat Sacramento Opening. SACRAMENTO. Cal.. Jolly Jack, who is registered at the Benson hotel, saw two fights on the trip concluded last night. He gazed upon Benny Leonard shading Soldier Bartfield and witnessed Jack Britton winning a popular verdict over Mike O'Dowd. According to the big league promoter. Britton surprised everyone by gaining the edge over O'Dowd and must be locked upon as one of the most remarkable mitt-wlelders who ever lived. Britton, a welterweight, becom ing advanced in years as pugilists go. walked out and trimmed a great mid dleweight. Curley, one of the best versed men Interested in boxing today, is of the opinion that Frederick Fulton can whip both Georges Carpentier and Joe Beck ett, the French and British Idols, in one night. He says that Fred will beat everyone he meets on the other side and then. If matched with jjtck Dempsey again, will not last over a few. rounds. V. OF O. Jack Dempsey is a puncher of angles and one of the greatest fighters the world has ever seen. "I managed Carl Morris the first time I i was K. O.'d by this wonderful Salt Lake boy. After the fight I told the newspapermen that Dempsey was the real champion and that he would beat Wlllard the same way. Following this assertion by me some folks said that I was interested in the handling of Dempsey, which Is totally untrue.
