ably unequaled since the signing of the
armistice. Various other speculative indus
trials, especial ' metals, motors, oils and to
baccos, shared In the movement, the ma
chinery of the exchange being taxed to its
utmost throughout tho session.
Danger signals were hoisted In the after
noon, when call loana rose to 8 and 10 per
cent after opening at 0 to 6'i per cent, but
the reaction made Uttle headway until to
wards the close, wlw-n 12 and 13 per cent
ruled for mixed and all industrial loans, as

That rate, In fact, was the final quotation
of the session.
The setback ranged from 1 to 5 points
among leaders and considerably more in
ato-k4 let's favored by the speculative ele
ment, many substantial gains being replaced
by net losses of 1 to 3 points.
Stutz Motors was the sensational feature, j
rising 20 points before noon, but yielding
more than half its gain In the sweeping
flnl reversal. Steels declined 1 to 4 points
and seasoned equipments and peace, indus
trials also broke sharply, secondary rails,
notably Missouri Pacific, almost alone hold

Weakneys of exchange on London was
again without explanation from authorita

rope also showing much Irregularity.
Bond dealings were enlarged but uncer
