M. Morfran, of Ashland, have received word from the War Department that their son. Private Arthur Ray Mortran, was killed in action November 10. Private Morgan was a graduate of the Ashland High School of the class of 1917. He enlisted with the Naval Marines Febru ary 10, 1918. He was severely wounded in action August 28 and was discharged from the hospi tal and returned to the front in October, remaining: with his com pany in action until the time of his death. He leaves his parents and two sisters, Mrs. W. G. Stansbery, of Portland, Mrs. J. C. Lilscher. of Dayton; and three brothers, K. C.
