IHhl MORNING OREGOXIAX, ' WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 191S. 14 SOUL MATES FINED $200 8CAXT SYMPATHY FOR MARRIED FOLK WHO- BREAK VOWS. Maalclpal Judge Boumu Take So Lenient View of Case of Soldier Wife Who Flnda Affinity. Soldiers" wives who find "soul mates" while their husoanas are overseas will get scant sympathy from Municipal Judge Rosman, It developed yesterday, when Mrs. Fred Elliott was fined 100 after conviction of disorderly conduct. George Watson, a co-defendant, was fined a similar sum. The pair were arrested last Saturday by request of Mrs. George Wilson, who testified that the true names of the defendants were George Wilson and Mrs. Fred Cass. Mrs. Wilson swore that Mrs. Cass had come to the Wilson home and announced that she and Mr. .Wilson had found "real love." Mrs. Wil son said her husband left home shortly afterwards. Suit for divorce of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson is now pending in the Circuit Court. The witness testified that Mrs. Cass was the wife of a soldier now in France. She said she knew nothing of the state of affairs between Mr. and Mrs. Cass before the former went into the Army. The defendants did not appear In court. The trial. howeVer. was acri monious in the extreme. Attorneys for both principals in the divorce were present and wrangled over the intro duction of evidence that might later be reproduced in the divorce proceed ings. Walter Wolfe, attorney for the defendants, announced an appeal of the case. EXTRA! Orpheum Show Tonigrht. Adv. AMUSEMENTS. Portland's Famous Stock Company. All -week Mats. Wed- Eat.
