Plane and specifications compiled by H. D. Sandstone, a naval architect, and H. Y. Freedman, attorney, for a liberty wuuueii Hinp, naving a deadweight ca pacity or bi-oo tons, and capable of being increased beyond that size, are to be forwarded to the Emergency Fleet corporation today. Mr. Freedman said yesterday the fl sign is for an all wood ship with less metal fastenings than any other wooden type demands and that it had been ac cepted by Lloyd's and was satisfactory if'caeiniiLivta or tne American Bu reau. The vessel is to have a length of 350 feet, beam of 50 feet and depth of 40.0 leei. Mr. Sandstone, besides being an en gineer and naval architect, has been connected with Puget Sound and Ore gon yards during the past three years and many ideas obtained have been guides in designing the liberty ship. The elemental features are the use of straight-grained material for the out side and floor sections of frames and the tensile strength of the outside and deck. Double diagonal planking is to be used on the outside of the frames and under the decking. Dally River Readings. Eight A. M., Sunday. June 16. 1018. Wenatchee 136.01 1.510.00 J-ewlston Umatilla .. Greetings by the Grant Smith Porter Ship Company to Charles M. Schwab, director-general of the Emer gency Fleet Corporation, and others of the organization who will accompany him to Portland early next month, will take the form of five completed steam ers. Other yards are working to launch hulls the day the party is here, but as the Grant Smith-Porter family has fin ished the first wooden steamer for the Government and is engaged in the com pletion of 11 others, it is felt that one of the most pleasing features would be to have a fleet ready for sea. ChanMor Must Be Dry Ship. Aboard the oil tanker J. A. Chanslor BO bottles of stimulants were found Saturday, of California origin. While deputies from the Sheriffs office were on hand to search the vessel, it leaked out that Captain Sawyer had discovered the presence of liquor aboard and noti fied the authorities. Just because the Chanslor is a tank ship the skipper does not believe in substituting alcoholic concoctions for fuel oil and gasoline. Tanks From Los Angeles. Delivery was made Saturday of 11 water and fuel oil tanks for steamers building here that came from the Los Angeles plant of the Llewellyn Iron Works. The shipment indicates how much of the machinery and tanks are assembled from different points to speed the ship work, orders being placed with shops having available ca pacity, though far removed from the 3? 5 a STATIONS. Do you know the water is posi tively warm in the Oaks tank? Bathers fairly made the water alive the entire afternoon, and diving and swimming looked to be the jolliest kind of sport. A new electric fan for hair drying and an electric curling iron greatly add to the convenience of the ladies' dressing-room. Why not picnic at the Oaks to day? It is no trouble to get up a lunch, and you know you can make hot coffee in the free kitchenette. We also have a free checking room where you may leave your lunch baskets in perfect safety while you visit the different concessions. The Rodeo is one of the most thrilling rides in the park. Those great cars swing you out over the water and the most delightful sen sation fairly creeps over you. The Ferris Wheel, too, offers something entirely different in the way of a pleasure ride. Just imagine going high in the air on a great wheel, and viewing the park and the crowds from that look-out point. Just try it some day. Cars leave First and Alder everv few minutes transfer from any part of the city 6-cent fare. JOHN F. CORDRAY, Mgr.
