I'p Rider, Falls in Battle. PENDLETON. Or.. May IS. (Special.) Word has been received here of the death on the battle-front In France of Hugh A. Taylor, of Weston, who went over with the Walla Walla Artillery Company, aa did a number of other young men from this county. He was the son of Moses Taylor, wealthy re tired farmer of Weston, and was well known here. For several years he was one of the participants in the Roundup, and is the second of the frontier show riders to have made the supreme sac rifice on the battlefield. Dell Blancett, killed March 30, was the first.. He Is the first Weston boy to fall. He Is survived by his parents, his widow and two small children. PENDLETON GIRL IS DEAD Verna Anlbal, 1 Years Old, combs to Heart Disease. Sue PENDLETON, Or., May 13. (Special.) Verna Anibal. 19-year-old daughter of Mrs. Ella Anibal, a popular young high school girl, died here today from heart disease. Miss Anlbal's father died recently, a few days after she had been removed from the hospital, where she had been under treatment. The shock was followed by a relapse. 'Besides her mother, one sister. Federal Judge Landis today sentenced Nathan H. Schaffner. a young physician, to im prisonment for two years at Leaven worth, Kan., for violation of the Harri son anti-narcotic law. Schaffner's books showed his in come from his practice was from 380 to 3160 a month until he began pro viding drug users with narcotics when his office receipts increased to about 31500 per month.
