(Spe cial.) Transportation and not manu facture la the chief problem of airplane sprnce production, according; to the re port of a committee of the lioquiam Commercial Club appointed to inveetl Cate means of helping; speed ap output and thereby assist the Government In carrying out Its aircraft procramme. Aa a result of Ita findings the commit tee la advocating the extension of the Northern Pacific Hallway- beach line, which runs from here to Moclipa. on to the Queet River, a distance of :5 miles. Thla would open a large body of air plane spruce not accessible because ot lack of transportation. The committee atatea Its Inrrstlfa tlon haa shown there la no lack of man ufacturing; facilities, but there ia an In ability to aerure logs aa fast aa they can be handled by the mills, or fast enough to meet the needs. In addition the else of the aircraft programme aoon will demand new tracta of spruce not now accessible and which will not be made accessible by railways now pro jected. The extension of the Northern Faclfle would tap the large spruce belt on the Quests and Clearwater River valleys, eattmated at between 200,000, 060 and ISO. 000.000 feet suitable for air plane manufacture. The Queeta dis trict spruce belt la on of the largest on the Olympic Peninsula, according; to report by tinibermen and cruisers. Read Uarlcy'a article, pace I. JURY PROBE IS DENIED JfDGE KAVANAl'GH DECIDES AGAINST INVESTIGATION. Score of Men en Circuit Court Panel Denounced as "Undesirable" Are Quietly Dismissed. Efforts on the part of Attorney Coy Burnett to procure the names of the score of "undesiraible" Jurors on the present Circuit Court panel met with failure yesterday when Circuit Judge Kavanaugb. declined to institute an original Investigation. It was learned, however, that a num ber of those who a week ago were publicly denounced as being undesir able have been quietly dismissed for the rest of the term, leaving nearly all of those remaining above the shad ow of suspicion. The one exception In Judge Kava naugh's court was Juror Ira Klm- mons, who was aiscnargea eome time ago by Assessor Reed for failure to sign the oath of allegiance and for other charges involving his patriotism. Kimmins was excused on a challenge issued yesterday by Mr. Burnett. The case being tried before Judge Kavanaughi is one in which Robert Wakefield is seeking to recover S20,- 000 from Joseph Supple for an alleged breach of contract in the rurnlsning of steel material for the construction of two Government barges several years ago. The case is up for retrial, having been remanded by the Supreme Court after the plaintiff Won a Judg ment at the first trial.
