Ezra Meeker, who blazed the Oregon trail, has been Interesting him self in the study ami production of flour manufactured from potatoes as a substitute for wheat flour. On Tues day he received a telegram from United States Senator esley L. Jones, saying that the United States Food Administration had arranged to finance a plant, and that Charles Heb beid. Federal Food Administrator for Washington, would consult him on the project. Mr. Meeker announces that he has perfected a plan for producing potato flour, and that all th machinery can be manufactured in Seattle. His idea is to have the Government market the flour and sell, it to consumers at the lowest nostsible price. He has pre pared a recipe whereby bakers, house holders and others can make their own potato flour, and will send the same to all who apply to bim at SI! One hundred farm hands are wanted at the United States Employment Ollice, co-operating with the Public Employ ment Bureau of Portland, at 247 Davis street, this city, at wages from $50, to $75 a month, board and room. This is the farmers' Spring seeding time, and a large number of farm hands will be needed in this state from now until late next Fall. The City Council has awakened to the fact and at a meeting Monday night an ordinance was introduced to curb and regulate all dances given publicly.
