It was learned yes terday. - Although tHa "tap" was discovered fomiy morning, when approximately ! quarts were drtro)rd. the find was nut inada juhlie until ) estrrday. In a dark corner of tho hasemenl they discovered a larce tin container hold. nearly 11 gallons of lfTlmr, while a one-gallon drinilolin waa also discov ered, pearly filled. buspicion is not yet attached to any of the county employes, although i thorough investigation is now unde wav. Tha liquor, which ia a mixture nf wine, whisky, gin mid hcrr, is not fit to drink, according to the officers, although they admit that an individua with a hiphly devc-lupod thirst might Le tempted to quaff tho stuff. Winua Karnlahea tleve. Th finding of Ilia "tan" waa tho re sult of information given tho county authoritiee by boiiio unknown woman This woman, who apparently knew every fcatur of the drirk basement drew an almost perfect penril sketch of th room where the "lap' was located. tha has railed th officials by tel phono repeatedly during the past week informing then of th tap" and urg ing them to uncover th hidden, reser voir for liquor which flowed for a short distance from tha courtyard sewer pipe. Tho rer pipe had been tapped and lli opening had been carefully thread ed in order that another pipe to inter cept tne ii'iuor from tho sewer pipe might bo Inserted. When the officers cam upon th tap tlie floor was damp though tho liquor had been, dripping irora the pipe. ' bhenff Uurlburt and Special Agent Cieren kept a careful vatch upon the place Monday morning hen tha liquor wwa Peing destroyed. Put .hey were un ahle to detect any person entering- or leaving the particular room where it la located. They say there is but one door to the room and no person could have arranged tho tap Monday morning to get a supply of tba liquor without be Ins caught. Infafwtaaf I Persistent. They expressed tho belief that th liquor found In tha room Is a part of that which bad been secured when a former quantity of liquor waa de stroyed about two months ago. What liquor they did find Monday they ait our emptied Into tha aew-er. Tha on thing In connection with the affair which Is causing- th officials some concern ia the fact that some woman waa ao familiar with tho loca tion of th hidden tap. This woman called Deputy District Attorney Htm- ersiey by telephone last &unriav and Informed him that a quantity of liquor waa to bo destroyed tha following morning and urged him to see that the p waa carefully watched. Just how she knew that there was to be destruction of liquor la something the officials are unable to understand. Old Tap Tampered With. They are also at a loss to explain her unusual Interest In tha case. They believe she is either tha wife of some person who has been using the "tap" nd wanta his supply of liquor shut off. or els is seeking to get some county employ "in bad" by getting caught with tha liquor. . District Attorney Kvans said yester day that even though the person re sponsible for the "tap" might be found, dismissal from the county service Is probably the only action which could be taken.
