Dun's tomorrow Wlh say: Both in Its producing and distributing branches, business more clearly reflected the retarding influence in various existing drawbacks, although a return to more nor mal conditions is to be expected with a per manent moderation of the weather. Curtail ment of Industrial and mercantile operations has already been unusually extensive and the restriction of work through the holiday ob servances tends to reduce the purchasing power of many consumers. With the consequent diminution of retail buying, and with the delays in shipments resulting from the transportation congestion, complaints of less satisfactory collections are rather more common and in some cases, where deliveries cannot be made with the desired promptness, cancellations of contracts are reported. But while transactions gener ally are smaller in volume, it remains the fact that in some lines business Is only lim ited by the Inability of producers to book more orders and there are many Indications, notably In the West and South, of a dispo sition to provids liberally for future requlre- "weekly bank clearings were 3,043,692,79.
