Few pcVpl, unless thor oughly posted aa to supplies, know ot th big shortags, Th packer' buy baa been leas than In a good many ysars; Fh fact, w believe that during th range season, when the feeder competition waa ao strong, the packers had hard work to make any money, but sine tbe range ssason closed snd th fed lamba have been marketed It has been different, and baa been practically packer market. 'While this baa been a phenomenal year for prtcea for all classes ef shsep and lambs, snd while the range man has secured higher prlcaa tor sheep and lamb than ever be fore, tbis doe not mean ha has mad mor money than formoriy. Those fortunste snough to have a good lamb crop laat Spring mad plenty of money, but tli majority only had half a crop of lambs, and ar really no bettsr off than If tuny had a full lamb crop and aold thm at 5 to 8 cents pound leas. xpns hav greatly In creased, the hay crop Is short, and feed of all kinds hss been high. "la tbe writer's opinion ther hav been more ewes and ew lamb wintered th.s year than In many yeara peat, but there are Bone too many. We can atlll aell lamb at 3 to 8 cents a pound lowsr than thsy have been selling and make money; in fact make more money than when they aell at present prices.
