BOOSTER DAY IMPROBABLE Subscribers and Others Want .Post ponement Because of War. OREGON CITY. Or.. May 11. (Spe cial.) Booster day, the annual festival event of this city, will probably be eliminated this year on account of the war. A vote taken on the question among the former subscribers to the fund and other leading- citizens was against the event this year. This may result In a grand patrlotio celebration of the Fourth of July. This vote is not final, as the regular committee will consider the question In the near future. RED CROSS WORKERS NEED Material Is on if and for Making of Pajamas by Classes. The Red Cross committee In charge of the new workroom in the Meier & Frank building has made an appeal for workers who will give time to the making of pajamas. There Is material on hand to make 420 sets for the Red Cross Society. Any club or church society that wants to do real service may make application for time that will be set aside for its meeting or work hour at the sewing-rooms. The hours available will be from 10 to 12 and from 2 to 5 o'clock Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Willamette chapter. Daughters of the American Revolution, will set apart Thursday as their day for Red Cross work in these sewing-rooms, and Com pany E's auxiliary will meet on Tues day. The Army and Navy Auxiliary will be given another afternoon. Sew ing machines and materials will be provided, but the women are requested to take their own scissors and thimbles. 4 BOY THIEVES SENTENCED Joyriders Who Took Two Cars Are Paroled by Judge Kavanangh. Four youthful automobile thieves Harry Kelly, Dewey McEllrath. Clar ence Rabideau and Lewis Desaegher were sentenced to one year in the County Jail and paroled yesterday by Presiding Judge Kavanaugh. The four boys are said to. have sto len an automobile belonging to J. T. Ryan and left town for a little Joy ride on the night of March 4. When they reached the vlncinlty of Beaver ton the machine became stuck in the mud and they stole another car to take them back to town. TROUBLES ENTIRELY DIS APPEARED Fathers and mothers worry over a child with a chronic cough. Knudt Lee, Wannaska, Minn., writes: "For several years my daughter had a bad chronio cough. ELIZA HISEL DIES Bolton Woman, 83, Succumbs to Ill ness of Several Weeks. OREGON CITY. Or.. May 11. (Spe cial.) Mrs. Eliza Anne Hisel, wife of George Hisel, died at the family home at Bolton Thursday,' after an Illness of several weeks. Mrs. Hisel had resided at Bolton for the past eight years. She was 83 years old. She Is survived by her husband, George Hisel, of Gladstone, and the fol lowing children: Leon, Frank, Lola, Gladys, Georgia and Marian, of Bolton. cruiting for Army Service.
