GOVERNOR IS SHOW VISITOR
Oregon Can't Be Beaten In Livestock
Field, Executive Says.
Governor "Withycomhs was In town
yesterday and passed most of his time
at the livestock show. The Governor
is one of the pioneer breeders of pure
blooded livestock in Oregon. He was
particularly pleased over the success of
the Oregon stock in competition witn
the stock of other states.
"Oregon took more first prizes and
prizes of all kinds than any other
state." he commented gleefully last
night. "It only shows that you can't
beat Oregon in her own field, and live
stock is a field that is peculiarly and
naturally Oregon's own.

tended the local exposition to gain
some Ideas and to interest some of the
exhibitors in the Seattle enterprise.
The Seattle Exposition will be a com
bination of the Land Products Show,
which was held for the first time this
year, and a livestock show, it was
proposed first to exhibit only dairy
attle, but fat stock also will be en
tered. It is not probable, though, that
hogs, sheep and horses will be shown.
The Seattle peonle are trying to In
duce the North Yakima business men
to abandon their annual livestock show
and to throw their resources to Seattle.
They will try, too, to have the dates
of the show at Lewiston, Idaho,
changed so that they won't conflict.
Seattle Has Liquor-Destroying Bee.
SEATTLE, Wash., Dec 7. One thou
sand bottles of whisky, beer and wine,
three kegs and a dozen demijohns of
liquor were emptied into the sewer
alongside police headquarters today
before a large crowd of spectators. The
liquor was the accumulation of the dry
squad's seizures during the past month.
