tive timber end lumber producers of
the Northwest at the Portland Hotel
yesterday.
Thla was the first of a series of sim
ilar meetings that are to be held In
various parts of the country under the
auspices of the Western Forestry and
Conservation Association.

T. J. Humblrd, of Sandpolnt, Idaho;
C. H. Davis, who held the proxy of C.
A. Weyerhauser. of St- Paul; E. C
Ames, representing- the Puget Bound
district; K. B. Haxen. H. Kirk and E.
T. Allen, of Portland.
The principal object of yesterday's
meeting was to ajain the views of the
lumber Interests ot the Pacific North
west on the general programme for
bettering the industry. This move
ment was started at San Francisco last
October, when tho first industry con
ference was conducted by the Western
Forestry and Conservation Association,
It is aimed, through this organisation,
to unify the efforts of all associations
connected with the timber Industry.
Those in attendance represented the
West Coast Lumbermen's Association,
the Western Pine Manufacturers' Asso
ciation, the Northern Pine Manufactur
ers' Assoclstlon and the chief forestry
protective organisations of Idaho,
Washington and Oregon.
