Mary "Longnecker." a girl IS years old.
employed at the Meier Ml Frank store,
waa anxious to find a brother and Bis
ter, whom she had not seen since, as a
Ilnr Blrl. she bad been adopted by
people In Southern Oregon at the death
of her parents.
The Blrl had lost trace of her iden
tity, i'he hsd a picture, which she
showed Mr. Coffey, of an elderly man
and woman, the latter holding a girl
on her lap. The resemblance between
th girl In the picture, the girl who
brought tha picture to Mr. Coffey and
the woman In the picture was strong.
tn the back of the picture was written
In bold handwriting. "George F. !'
poera." . .
Tha girl said she thought she had
lived with her parents on a farm near
Coqullle. On a chance Mr. Coffey
wrote. Inquiring about the family of
"George Cyphers'' at Coqullle.
Answers wer received yesterday,
with lha welcome news that the broth
er and lter of the girl all had good
homes and were anxious to hear from
her.

Intent to Defraud on Policy.

Dennis MrMurray and Mrs. Almeda
Rexcoad, of Independence, were in
dicted yesterday on a charge of arson
in connection with tho burning of the
old Walker Hotel October 6 at Inde
pendence. It Is alleged that McMurray and Mrs.
Hex road burned the hotel property
with intent to defraud an insurance
company. Mrs. Rexroad has been the
owner and in possession of the' fur
nishings and fixtures of the old hotel
since October, 1914. and until the fire
conducted a lodging-house there.
An insurance policy in the sum of
flOOO was carried upon the equipment.
After the fire an adjustment waa
made for $700. but this has not been
paid, awaiting'the outcome of the trial.
