CHICAGO PRICES LIFTED THE MORNING OEEGONIAN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1914. Fifty Million Bushels Reported Pur chased and to dear From United States by End of Year Corn ! . and Oats for Foreigners. CHICAGO. Nov. 4. Record-breaking sales VJ export bouses brought about a strong market today In wheat after a temporary break at the -start. The close was buoyant at 1 cents net advance. Corn finished X IMo to lH114c up. and oats with a gain of 3a to c In provisions the out come varied from S cents decline to a rise of 22 H cents. It was estimated that foreigners today bought fully' 8.000,000 bushels of wheat. According to renerally accepted figures, more than SO.O00.000 bushels have been pur chased to clear from the United States by January 1. Nevertheless, cash and export houses here were continually on the alert today for spot wheat or December delivery and appeared to give little heed to any , Question . of prices. Big receipts and an increase of the Euro pean visible supply caused the brief set back that took place early in wheat. The ' trans-Atlantic crop summary was also favor able. " Corn and oats, as well as wheat, were a-overned chiefly by the export demand. Europeans bought 830,000 bushels of corn here. Exporters today took 1,000,000 to 1.500,000 bushels of oats. Firmness was the rule In provisions. The leading futures ranged as follows: WHEAT. Open. Hisrh. ' ..$1.16 $1.17 .. 1.22 1.23 a CORN. . . .6914 .704 .71 . .12. OAT3. Dec. May Iec. May Low.
