STOCK TRADE LISTLESS Sears arm unable to depress MARKET LEVEL. Lonjr Also Fall to Score Advances Esrrlr Decline, Dne to the London Weakness. Soon Wiped Out. NW YORK. Nov. 17. Speculation was listless all day and except In Isolated in stances, price changes were insignificant. In tne rirst hour there was a sharp decline, which carried down the leaders a point or so. A recovery came quickly. In the after noon, speculation was lifeless. There was plenty of news today regarding Mexico the trade situation generally, events at Wash ington and other things in which the street is interested, but It was not news of first importance. There was nothing which indi cated decisive developments. With no occurrences at home to affect the market at the opening, the tone was de termined by the London market, where Americans were heavy. Tentative efforts of the bears to extend the decline availed noth ing. Operations on the long side met with no more success. The conpers failed to benefit bv the strone showing made in the fortnightly report of European supplies, showing a decrease of more than 3,000,000 pounds. Intemittent buy ing In Europe has comparatively little ef fect, on account of stagnant conditions in the domestic market. Assets Realization fell 20 nolnts to 40. It sold at 120 earlier In the year. Officials of the company said they knew of no reason for the slump. Bonds were easy. Virginia deferred 6s were bid up three points. Total sales, par value, $1,615,000.
