The sewer cost $134,000. and drains 1200 acres In EasUnoreland. Westmoreland. Woodstock and Sell wood. It Is of reinforced concrete, and was constructed by the Pacific Bridge Company. The sewer offered the greatest difficulties of construction of any of Portland's sewers. To reach the river It was necessary to drive a 1300-foot tunnel. Large springs In terfered with the work by filling tbrf trenches as the sewer was being dug. Alaska Max Dies nc Portland. Frank Brown, of Dawson City. The Catholic Church recently erected at Beaverton will be dedicated Sunday. June s. by Archbishop Christie. The new structure combines both school and church. After an Investigation of his bust ness ability, his experience In muni cipal affairs and his activity In the building up of the city, the South Port land Boosters' Club has indorsed Frank J. Richardson as the leading one of 12 candidates for Commissioner. Mr. Richardson received notice of his in dorsement yesterday and has sent out letters of thanks. The Richardson family has been active in municipal affairs in Portland since 1845. At that time James Ter willlger. grandfather of Mr. Richard son, the candidate, came to Portland. He built the first business building in the city, a blacksmith shop at First and Morrison streets. Mr. Richardson's father, who was the son of Mr. Ter wllllger, came to Portland In 1802, and took up municipal work where Mr. Terwilliger left off. He was a mem ber of the first Port of Portland Com mission and was one of the first water Commissioners. He was chairman of the nolice commission under Pennoyer, Mr. Richardson, the candidate, took up the work where his father left off and has been closely Identified with muni cipal development along all lines since.
