A, Trerap, manarer. and Herman "Wise, member of the Astoria Centennial com. mlttee. passed yeeterday In Portland In conference with officials of the Portland Commercial Club and other local organi sations. Including the Hose Festival As sociation and the Retail Grocers' Asso ciation in the interest of the Astoria ex position. "The dates for the Astoria Centennial bava been, fixed," said ex-M&vae Wise, "and the exposition will be held August 10 to September S. inclusive. Preliminary details for tha exposition are being ar ranged and the outlook for a creditable show is good. The centennial will be a food thing for the entire' state. At the same time it will serve spproprlately to commemorate an event closely associated with the early settlement of the state." Oregon through its recent Legislature appropriated $60,000 for tha Astoria Cen tennial while a similar amount will be provided by the people of Astoria and Clatsop County to make the event the success that is planned.
