For tho purpose of considering- mat ter's In regard to tha "Oregon dry" campaign, tha general Ministerial As sociation of Portland met yesterday af ternoon In executive session at the Y. M. C- A. About 40 ministers took part In the discussion as to the best way to make use ot the time between now and election to overthrow tho liquor trafflo In the State of Oregon. It was decided that the association shall appoint meetings In IS places of the ten wards of the cltr for the pur pose of perfecting ward and precinct organization. Next Sunday morning and evening 75 pastors of the city will announce those meetings, which will be held next Monday evening at the following churches: First Presbyterian, First German Methodist Episcopal, First German Evangelical. ' First Congregational First United Presbyterian, Emanuel Baptist. Mlspah Presbyterian, Sellwood Christian. Mount Tabor Presbyterian, Friends. Hawthorne Presbyterian. Cen tral Methodist Episcopal. Members of the City Council committee, which is Investigating charges against po lice and other city officials, announced that tha committee was holding secret sessions for the purpose of ascertain ing the character and reliability .of testimony to bo used when tho commit tee shall sit in the open and bring witnesses face to face with any offi cial who may be charged with crime. The committee has received and dis carded anonymous communications, let ters that turned out to be forged, and much vague and hearsay testimony. The committee has given out no Informa tion whatever and Is vexed , that cer tain rumors investigated by the commit tee should have been printed as find ings of the committee.
