THE MORNING OHEGONTAN, MONDAY, JUNE 20, 1910. 11 TILLAMOOK CLUB OPENS BUSINESS MEX ORGANIZE TO ADVANCE INTERESTS. Dedication ol New Quarters Memor able Event Visitors Im pressed by Resources. TILLAMOOK. Or.. June 19. (Special.) The opening of the Tillamook Commercial Club was commemorated by a banquet In tha large reception hall, where covers were laid for 260 persons. The hall was gaily decorated with green and gold. There were several guests from Portland and other places. Including J. M. Gearln, Russell Hawkins, Colonel T. M. Dunne, Q. L. Davis. E. Hofer, A. W. Norblad. B. F. Crawshaw, F. W. Evans, J. T. Ross and L. P. Bransteter. James Walton acted as toastmaster. Mr. Gearln, after congratulating the members upon the success which attended the opening of the clubroom, dwelt upon the large timber resources of the county and what It would amount to when manufac tured. He spoke of large amounts of money the county was receiving for Its dairy products and dwelt at length upon the need of bay and harbor improve ment, advising the people of Tillamook County that If they would help them selves, the Government would help them. A. W. Norblad, president of the Astoria Commercial Club, spoke of the impor tance or commercial clubs and advised the members to put aside all jealousies and pull together. Colonel D. M. Dunne caused some merriment when he said Tillamook County was noted for its tim ber, its cheese and a special kind of ani mal called the "blind pig." He, however, complimented the club upon the splendid start It had made with the Commercial Club. Colonel Hofer responded for the ladles, but devoted his remarks to the advocacy of good roads. The club has a membership of SO, and naa weu-rurnished quarters in Tillamook block. DAILY METEOROIXX1ICA1, REPORT. PORTLAND, June 19.
