I McArthur was for 34 years a regent of the unlvereity, while his son, C. N. McArthur, Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives and pri vate secretary to Governor Benson, has done eo much for athletics here both as a student and member of the alumni, that it Is felt the name should be perpetuated In some fitting monument. The present Klncaid Field was bought three years ago from H. R. Kincaid. ex Secretary of State, for 315.000. It Is claimed, however, that Mr. Kincaid was paid full value for the land, and is no benefactor of the university and there fore deserves no such honor as has been given him.
