"1 ho captain hurried to Carters Bay. where the Ohio was beached, but we reached there an hour after the Rupert had picked up tile passengers. As It was Canadian soil, we did not land. We wre much surprised to hear later that the Ketchikan operator claimed credit for sending help to the wrecked vessel. "The Ohio h. beached in an ensy post tion and can eaai'y bo raised. We passed so c!o3e to her that I was able to ob serve her position closely. Though re ports have paid her fcow Is In six fathoms of water, the truth Is that it Is resting In not more than three. Only the after part of the Ohio is submerged, all the midships and forward part of t!ie streamer from a few feet shaft the fun nel bein'f out of water, when we passed at about half low tide. "After leaving the Ohio, the Portland plck.-d up a bag marked with the nam of St. J. Henry, the Copper River rail road contractor, who was a passenger on the ship. It was taken on to Seattle."
