The barrel beer tax collected hv th. eminent last month showed sales of 4.S36.840 barrel, a decrease of T1.030 barrel from the business done by the breweries In May last year. As compared with the month of May. 1907, the figures of last month show a shrinkage of 673.4S8 barrels. There la a sharp attack of Jy with deposit and some growers have com menced washing. SIX TABS OF CANTALOUPES ROLLING. Cheap Prices Are Kxpected Next Week Oregon Logans In Market. Six cars of cantaloupes are now on the way to Portland from the Imperial Valley, and It looks as If cheap prices will prevail next week. One of these cars should have been In yesterday, but was delayed by trou ble down the road. Oood progress was made In cleaning up the car received Wednesday. Standards sold at 4 4.2ft and pony crates at 3 604. tn addition to the cantaloupes, there was on the delayed tram two cars of new pota toes and a car of onions, a. straight car of Honolulu pineapples win arrive early next week. Oregon loganberries have made their ap iwanncs a shipment of several crates arriv ing from Qervala. They brought $2 per crate. Strawberries were scarce yesterday and firm. Cherries were very much In over supply and were weak at 2JJ6 cents per pound. The street was overstocked with wax beans which were offered at SS cents. Tomatoes were also 4n heavy supply and weak. HALF-CENT ADVANCE IN CHEESE. Poultry Prices neraorallaed by an Overmp- p'y. The cheese market Is very firm. Prices wer raised H cent by the leading handlers .yesterday. Butter was quoted firm at un changed prices. The poultry market was demoralized by an oversupply of almost everything. Hens were sold as low as 11 Vi cents and springs at 15 centa Toung ducks and young gees could hardly be moved, the former at IS cents and the latter at 10 cents. Dressed tneat was also slow.
