ALBAXT, Or.. May 30 (Special.) Tha
jrrand lodge of Oregon I. O. O. P. con
cluded its Mth annual session tonight and
adjourned to meet next year In Eugene.
The Lane County capital won the JH10
convention by a vote of 37 against lul
for Portland, the other candidates with
drawing before the ballot was taken. The
convention was a most successful one In
every respect and was notable . In that
more delegates attended It than any pre
vious wpsion of the grand lodge. All
trains are loaded with homeward-bound
Oddfellows tonight.
H. E. Coolldge. of La Grande, was
elected grand master of the grand lodge
of Oregon. I. O. O. K., In the annual elec
tion today. T. f Ryan, of Oregon City,
was rhotfen deputy grand muter and A.
"V. 'Bowersox. of Albany, grand warden,
tl:e post w-hlch places the occupant in
line for the chief executive office of the
grand lodge.
Sharon Given Sixteenth Term.
K. Sharon, of Portland, was elected
grand secretary for a 16th conseautive
term and O. I. Doane. of The talles. was
re-elected grand treasurer. Kd Hostetler,
of The Dalles, tlie retiring grand master,
was elected grand representative for the
full term of two years and 9. W. Stryker.
of Portland, was chosen grand representa
tive for one year to nil the vacancy
caused bv the death of Richard Scott, ot
Mil waukie.
Robert Andrews, of Portland, and J.
F Riwely. of Oswego, were chosen trustees
of the Oddfellows Home.
The following officers were appointed this
afternoon to serve for the ensuing year:
Grand marshal. R. H. Rohrig. of Union;
grand conductor. Wayne Grlder. of Con
don: grand guardian. V. A. Wheeler, of
Portland; grand herald. O. B. De, of
Ashland; grand chaplain. Rev. C. P.
Gates, of St. John.
Elect Hereafter by One Ballot.
The grand lodge constitution was
changed today so that one ballot will
elect candidates to all degrees here
after. The Rebekah Assembly also completed
Its session and adjourned tonight. The
session in pronounced the most pleasant
In the history of the assembly, and
nothing occurred to cause a single jar.
The assembly by resolution gave a hun
dred votes of tlianks to Mrs. J. K. Weath
erford. Mrs. C. W. Sears and Mrs. J. J.
Collins, the committee of Albany wo
men who handled arrangements for the
gathering.
The. Rebekah assembly elected officers
as follows: President. Corrie Hubbard,
of Independence: vice-president. Addle
Grout, of La Grande; warden. Belle
Belcher, of Ifayette: secretary. Ora
Cosper. of Dallas re-elected : treasurer,

trustee of Oddfellows Home In Portland.
Emma Galloway, of McMinnville: trustees
of Rebekah assembly Minnie Baird. of

Whether to Erect Edifice or
Alter Present One.
Whether the present Ts lor-P:reet
Methodist Church building, at Taylor and
Third streets, shall be torn down and
replaced wlih a commodious modern
structure, or whether the building now In
use shall be enlarged to take .care of the
growing congregation, are qistttions tha
will lie tleclded when tho executive board
holds its next meeting early In June. The
committee appointed to consider tlie ad
vUabillty of adopting one or the other
of the two propositions will ronder its
decision at that time.
This committee, consisting of G. F.
Johnson. David Mulr. A. King Wilson.
A. M. Smith and B. 1 -ee Paget, has had
tiie matter In hand for the pat three
months, but &declion haa not yet been
reached. Home members are. known to
be favorah'c to fhe plan to build a new
church, while others believe that the tim
is not yet opportune for undertaking the
erection of a building such as Is desired.
They are of the opinion that by making a
number of additions to the present church
tlie necessary room will be provided with
out incurring a heavy Indebtedness. The
committee was at the time of lis election
aeked to Investigate the matter of a new
site, but the impression prevails tliat the
church should remain where it Is.
The church building Is one of the oloe
In the city and lias been remodeled from
time to time to provide for tlie growing
needs of the congregation. In the event
that the plan to remodel the church Is
adopted, a wing will be erected on the
routh side, on the property now occupied
bv a marble works. The property con
swts of more than a Iquarter block at the
southeast corner of Taylor anil -Jhlrd
streets. It has been in the hands of the
congregation s-nce the founding of the
church more than tn years sgo.
