12 WEDDING DELAYED BY BISHOP'S EDICT Count Scherr-Thoss and Miss White Yield to Decrees of His Church. HER FATHER PROTESTS Bishop of Brcslan Objects to Both Catholic and Episcopalian Cere mony Tate of Wedding Finally Sot. PARIS, April 30. The arrangements fr the 'wedding of Count Hermann Kcherr-Thoss and MIps Muriel White, daughter of Ambassador White, which was delayed by certain difficulties aris ing through differences of the faith of thn contracting parties, are now com pleted. Uhe civil ceremony will be per formed April 25 by the Mayor of the Klphth Arrondiseement- The following day the religious marriage will be cele brated In at. Joseph's Church. Blt-Iiop Would Not Yield. As Miss White retains her Protestant faith, her family preatly desired that both Protestant and Catholic religious en-Ices should follow the civil marriage, and the groom-elect and family were in full sympathy with this. Cardinal Kopp, Bishop of Breslau, the diocese in which the couple will live, declined, however, to grant a dispensation for the marriage except on condition that the groom re frain from attending any other relig ious ceremony and with the usual restrlc t'on concerning the faith of any issue of the marriage. Influences were brought to bear In an endeavor to Induce Cardi nal Kopp to concede the service of the Knlseopal Church, but theae failed. Mr. White tinally acquiesced, but as a protest against the attitude of the ecclesiastical authorities he decided to abstain from attending the Catholic ceremony. With regard to his decision he says: "Both my public and my private life demonstrate my freedom from religious bias, but under the circumstances and as the representative of a country emi nent for its religous toleraton. althought predominently Protestant, I have de cided not to attend the services at St. Joseph's, the more so as there are sev eral recent precedents for a Catholio ceremony and one of another denomina tion."
