MEN CLOSELY WATCHED IMnkcrton Detectives Believe Tlicy Have Three Hold-ups Located ami W ill Arrest Them Wheu p:vldence Is Complete. As a climax to the holi-up of the East fide Bank, tile nisht of December 7. when l;5.0 was carried away by three rob bers whuse whereabouts have since baf fled the city's entire police force and de tective staff. John Doe warrants for the rrest of the trio were secretly issued out of the District Attorney's office several days ao. The evidence which led to the issuance of the warrants was laid before District Attorney Cameron by the Pinker ton detectives, who have not relaxed vigi lance for a single moment since the crime was committed. Within a few da. it is authoritatively rtated. the men implicated In the most sensational and during bank robbery in the Northwest will be placed under ar rest. All are now being; shadowed, and ttie evidence against them Is such that with the pickinir up of a few more links the chain of circumstances which It is believed will send all three of the prin cipals to the penitentiary, together with their accomplices, will .be complete. Information regarding the present w-hereahouts of the bank robbers Is with held. Those In a position to know stata that the evidence against the guilty ones is practically complete, that they are be ing closely watched and will be placed under arrest when wanted. From other than official ources It Is learned that at lea6t two of the men im plicated in the robbery are In the East. The third Is believed to be In some city on the Pacific Coast. For "two days or longer. It Is stated, the three men who were actually engaged in holding: up the bank loitered about the city and literally made faces at the officers who were en deavoring to find trace of them. .Finally, when' the Pinkertons began their search, the trio became frihtened and fled the city, each going In a different direction. Two brought, up finally in the vicinity of Chicact). One of the strongest features of the evidence which the detective agency has woven about the robbers revolves about the package of money which was sent in a newspaper to Ogden and taken out of the postofflce by the wrong man, who turned It over to the postal authorities. It has been established beyond doubt that the ti forwarded to Ogden is part of the money stolen from the Bast Side Bank. After it was partially identified as a part of the stolen loot, the Ogden authorities again turned-it over to Charles Price, the one who had received it origi nally through mistake, and it was depos ited in an Ogden bank to Price's account. Last week President H. H. Xewhall ad vised the officers of the Ogden bank where the fund is on deposit that if they would forward the money to Portland for positive Identification he would put up a bond sufficient to cover the entire sum. The Ogden bank officials Btt yet have given no definite answer to the re quest, but It is quite probable, according to President Xewhall. that eome such course will be taken to determine defi nitely whether the money Is that stolen during the bank hold-up. The entire sum Is In paper of various denominations and could be identified readily by the local bank's officers. SUITS AT COST. Closing out our entire line of wom en's suits and coats at cost. IVOTE ON SALARIES Taxpayers Will Hear Protest of Teachers Tonight. REPORT OF SCHOOL CLERK Figures for Present year Show Ex penditures Of $1,475,664 AVIth Indebtedness at Present Time Amounting; to $642,491. Taxpayers of School District No. 1 will hold their annual meeting in the as sembly hall of the West Side High School at 8 o'clock tonight. The yearly report and recommendations of the Board of Kd ucation will be received and acted upon, and the statistical report of District Clerk Allen, touching on the financial condition of the district, will be submitted. The pending controversy over a pro posed increase In teachers' salaries prom ises to make the meeting an Interesting one. 1 he Board of Education recently decided on an advance In the wage sched ule averaging 15 per cent, and has In cluded such a proposal In Its recommen dations to the taxpayers. The teachers, however, originally applied for a raise of 20 per cent, and it Is understood are dis satisfied with the action of the Board in not complying with their petition. To gether with their friends, they have planned to attend tonight's meeting and seek the Indorsement of the taxpayers fn a movement to set aside the salary rec ommendation of the directors and substi tute a provision covering the desired 20 per cent Increase. Issue Is Important One. It Is up to the taxpayers to determine whether or not the recommendation of the Board for a 15 per cent advance in teachers' salaries shall be ratified. It Is because of the importance of the matter to the district that the members of the Board are desirous that there be a large attendance of the taxpayers at tonight's meeting. If the recommendations of the Board are accepted, a tax levy of 4.7 mills will be necessary for school purposes foi the ensuing year. If the teachers gain their demands for a 20 per cent advance In wages, the levy necessarily will have to be higher. The report of District Clerk Allen will show receipts for the year. Including a balance of !460o.51, amounting to $1,483, 172.78. There is a cash balance on hand of $7508.17, showing disbursements for the 12 months aggregating $1,475,664.61. The total indebtedness of the district is $642,491.18. The following figures, taken from the District Clerk's report, show the receipts and expenditures of the dis trict for the last year: Receipts.
