Itslilngton and Oregon Wardens
and Legislators Will Convene.
For the purpose of consulting and col
laborating with the Oregon officials who
have charge of the Columbia River fish
eries. Governor Mead's legislative com
mittee, appointed to draw up salmon
laws for Washington, 'will convene In
the Cornelius Hotel this morning at 10.
It is expected that practically all the
packers and canners interested in the
Columbia River salmon question will at
tend the meeting, as will Fish Warden
H. C. McAllister, and other officials of
this state.
Among the subjects that will be
brought up for discussion so that the
Washington committee may recommend
such legislation as will not conflict with
the legislation of Oregon, will be the
matter- of a closed season, regulations
pertaining to fishing gear, and the ques
tion of the discharge of muddy waters
from irrigating ditches into, the spawn
ing grounds of salmon. It is hoped to
bring about similar laws in both states
by the Joint meeting of the fishermen.
Among those who are expected to be
present are H. S. McGowan. State Sena

Burke, president of the Seiners and
Trappers' Union: Hans Petersen, and
