SAX FRANCISCO. Nov. yi The Coro

wiih the liniulry practicallydirected as to
li'w he obtained or concealed the weuptin
with whicn he committed suicide, was
resumed this mornng.
In eupix'rt of the theory of the District
Attorney's office that the little Derringer
a.H J.4.sed to Haas after he was tak"n
to the tVunty Jail. Captain of Police Duke
p:n.'d on the stand R- O. Bremer, a run
expert, mho testitied that had the weapon
n conceaitd in one of Haas shoes, the
nun-cure from the body would have con
densed on tiie metul and- that the Der
ringer wmiid show Indication oi rust.
Policeman Grote testirled to being one
of tiie. officers who took Haas to the
County Jail, accompanied, by Chief of
Police Biggy. He was followed by Po
liceman John G. Attridge, who, with De
tective Charles Kelley. was on duty In
front of Haas cell when Mrs. Haas came
to see her husband. He described the
meeting between the two. said that both
he and Kelley were within two feet of
the couple all the time that they were
together and declared that It would have
been Impossible for the wife to have
slipped the Derringer to Haas without It
being observed by himself and Kelley.
Mrs. Myriam Conn, the closest friend
ttie ssilant of Mr. Heney had. as. one
of the principal witnesses. She came Into
the inquest room doubly veiled, and In
resporuse to the request of Coiot.cr I.e

a? first answered hesitatingly, but after
being on the stand for a few mlTiilts. re
gained her composure and seemed anx

Haas.
Mrs. Cohn said that she h:id known
Haas for 24 years, that sh w is practic
al y his only confidant, and tha: he had
p'ten declared that he loved nor. and
t.iit her marriage to another '.i:un had
blasted his life.
She testified that Haas said he was
very anxious to get on the Ruef Jury in
the Parkside case and he gave as his
reason that he hop?d the enforced seclu
sion for several weeks or months would
cure him of his drink and tobacco habit.
The witness said that Haas brooded
over hte exposure as a convict by Mr.
Heney and told her he intended killing
the special prosecutor for it. Asked by
District Attorney Langclon why she did
rot inform the authorities, she replied
that she thought she bad talked him out
of the Idea. -js
