New Library Building at Pullman
Is Started.
STATE COLLEGE. Pullman, Wash.,
June 17. (Special.) An Impressive cere
monial occurred in the State College
Campus today, when the cornerstone of
the new $130,000 library and auditorium
building was laid by the Grand Masonic
Ixdge of Washington. Attending the
ceremony were several hundred Masons
from many lodges of Eastern Wash
ington and a large number from the
lodges from Western Washington.
The officers of the grand lodge who
participated in the ceremony were: H.
W. Canfield, Colfax, worshipful grand
master; Hon. R. C. McCroskey, of Gar
field, deputy grand master; R." H. Turn
ley, Rosalia. Junior grand warden; G. W.
Barkhuff, of Colton, grand treasurer; W.
J. White, of Johnson, grand secretary;
S. H. Breeze, of Pullman, senior grand

BIG CORPORATION FAILS
Kecelver Is Asked for the National
Glass Company.
PITTSBURG. June 17. Claiming that
National Glass Company had defaulted
in the payment of interest on $600,000
worth of bonds, the Union TruBt Com
pany, of this city, made a demand on the
receiver in the United States Circuit Court
for the property of the concern under
foreclosure.
The National Glass. Company has 20
plants in five states and has a capital of
$4,000,000. The Union Trust Company Is
trustee for the mortgage bondholders.

"WEATHER CONDITIONS.
The depressions noted over British Columbia
and over Southern Utah remain stationary.
Both are somewhat energetic and general
rains have fallen during the last twelve hours
over Oregon, Washington. Idaho, Montana and
Northern Nevada and Utah. Temperatures
were higher over "Western Oregon, but decid
edly lower east of the mountains.
Tha indications point to cloudy weather,
with probably showers Thursday over this
entire forecast district. It will probably be
warmer over Western Oregon.
' THE RIVER.
Th stage of the Willamette at Portland
at 6 P. M. was 20.8 feet, a rise of .2 foot
since this morning. It will probably reach
a stags of 21.2 feet by PYlday morning.
FORECASTS.
Portland and vicinity Cloudy, with prob
ably showers, warmer; westerly winds.
Western Oregon Cloudy, with probably
showers, warmer; westerly winds.
Western Washington Cloudy, with probably
