Cut-off Reduces Time Between
the Two Cities to 1 0 Hours.
The special train bearing the party
ot representative Portland business
men to attend the Blossom Festival at
Lewiston, Idaho, will leave the Union
depot tonight at 9:30 o'clock tor that
city. The train will go by way of the
Riparla cut-off, shortening the time
between Lewiston and Portland to ten
houre.
The party will arrive at Lewiston to
morrow morning at 9 o'clock. Through
out the day the visitors will be en
tertained by the citizens and com
mercial bodies of Lowiston and Clark
eton. The train will leave for Port
land Sunday morning at 12:30 o'clock,
arriving here at 11:45 o'clock Sunday
forenoon.
The excursion will be the largest
gathering of business men ever held
In Lewiston, and it is expected will
mark the establishment of closer com
mercial relations between that city and
Portland. Following are the members

WEATHER CONDITIONS.
The depression noted over the Washington
coast' this morning has advanced eastward
and le now central over Kamloops, B. C. It
has undergone only a moderate development,
and no rain has as 'yet occurred over the
regions within the sphere ef its influence.
Cloudy skies prevail, however, over Western
Washington. The weather (s also becoming
threatening over the district east of the
mountains. The temperatures have fallen
along the entire coast, but have risen In the
interior, where they are npw decidedly above
the seasonal average.
The Indications are for showers and cooler
over this entire forecast district Friday.
