MAKE MANY OBJECTIONS
I.antl-lirabbcrs Attorneys Try to
Block to eminent Kvi donee.
WASHINGTON. April 13. The trial
of Frederick A. Hyde, .lohn A. Benson,
Henry IV Pimond and Joost Schneider,
who are charged with a conspiracy to
defraud the Government out of valua
ble land, is punctuated with numerous
objections from the attorneys for the
defendants to evidence which the Gov
ernment is endeavoring1 to introduce.
The principal objection thus far has
been that the allowed illegal acts In
regard to wb ich w itnesses have testi
fied occurred more than three years
prior to the finding of the Indictment
In 1904. and are therefore barred by the
statute of limitations. While United
States District Attorney Baker has se
cured thp admission of the evidence
thus far. a hard lejcal battle is expected
when fie final arguments are heard on
the motion t.j strike out all evidence
of this character.
The w itnesses today w ere George C.
Brown, of the Oregon State 1-and Office;
Thomas McCusker, of Portland. Or., and
lon Alexander.
Mr. Brown testified as to the methods
prescribed by law for the purchase of
school lands in Oreeon. He said there
was no law limiting the amount of such
landf that one man may acquire by
assignment.
Mr. MeCusker testified that he had
been engaged by Schneider, one of the
defendants, to aid him in securing; ap
plications for school land in Oregon
from persons having1 the right to pur
chase an allotment of such land. Upon
receipt of an assignment of each appli
cation to Schneider, the witness said, 3
was paid to the applicant. The appli
cation called for 30 acres, and the
assignment usually was made at the
time the application was signed. The
Government brought out the fact that
the applicant did not pay for the land
before assigning it to Schneider.

They won't spend one hour in selecting a

They are progressive and have ideas. They

The Stress
of modern life uses up vitality
and energy and exhausts the
nerve battejies too fast for
ordinary food, hence nervous

nervous wrecks.
Scott's Emulsion
is a nerve-food of almost mar

the world strengthens the
nerves, restores vitality and
gives energy to the whole

The selling contract w ith our company limits our sales, at present prices,
to 40 5-acre tracts. When the 40 tracts are sold, our contract calls for an
advance of $250 on each 5-acre tract.
The first allotment will not last long. At our office we will show you sales
and tell you who has purchased. "When you learn the number of sales and
character of purchasers, you will obtain a very good idea as to our ability to
make good on all our claims.
"When we reach the advance price we will still be giving full value, but our
opening price was made as an introduction and special feature to attract at
tention in inaugurating a business of a company which is, and will continue to
be, the largest owner and planter of English "Walnuts and Royal Ann Cher
ries on the Pacific Coast.
When you purchase a tract of this company you are assured of proper loca
tion and the constant care and culture of your purchase during the first
growing period of trees, the most vital time in the life of property to secure
results.
Our terms of $100 cash and $15.00 per month for each 5-acre tract includes
four years' care. "We offer you tracts that are plantej.
"We go any day or everj- day, leaving 7:40 A. M., returning 5:40 P. M.
