13 TIIE MORXIXG OREGOXIAX, SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 1903. E H01S0 PEOPLB AGREE TO PLEDGE THEMSELVES. Men. Nominated for Legislature. Hold Meeting and Resolve Upon Action Statement People Busy. An agreement was reached yesterday between members of the Hodeon-Sichel-Bayer ticket to pledge themselves to the nominee of the Rpublican primaries for United State Senator. The first pledge of this ticket was to support thuTpeople's choice" of the primaries and the general election, if the object of that choice should be a Republican. When W. S. U'Ren re treated from the firing line and ceased to be a candidate. Hodson and Sichel de clared that they were ready to support the primary choice, whether Fulton or Cake. This lead was followed yesterday by other members of the ticket, at a meeting held in the afternoon. The effect has been to pacify to some extent the Idleman-Davia-Drake-Colwell camp, which has been advocating "Republican voters' choice" doctrine. This latter contingent also held a conference of lte leaders yesterday, among theme being C. M. Idleman, W. M. Davis. Arthur Orton, Ralph Moody, Frank Sinnott and A. B. Manley. It was decided to continue support of Dr. Emmet Drake and EL B. Colwell, for the State Senate, since thiy were the original candi dates of this camp, but for the preaent to do nothing more. "We demanded of the Hodson crowd," aid one of the Idleman camp, "only that they stand on the county convention plat form and promise to vote for the Republi can voters' choice for United States Senator. Since they have made a flip flop in that direction, I don't know that we desire to continue the row. As to whether we should put out a ticket, that has not yet been determined." The Statement No, 1 camp was some what busy yesterday, Thomas McCusker being the especially active patriot Dan Kellaher, who has come out as a candi date for the State Senate on a State-ment-No.-l pledge, is counted as one of the stalwarts of this camp. Mr. Mc Cusker was working hard to work up sentiment in business circles for State ment No. 1. Among the men boomed on his Bide are Dr. H. W. Coe, Dr. Andrew C. Smith, Ben Belling and Louis G. Clarke.
