The trowel was started from New York

the hands of the Pocatello. Idaho, lodpe.
The trowel will go to every MuboiiIc
jurisdiction In Christendom before it com
pletes It's ions Journey. Its mission is
to eMiibllfh a closer relationship between
nil of the Masonic lodR.w of the world.
It wa ptsrted on its Journey two years
sico from the New York Jurisdiction.. On
its tour thus far. the trowel has visited
New -York. Rochester, BufTalo. Hamilton.
Ontario, Detroit, Toledo, Klkhart, "Chi
cago. -'Cedar Rapids. Omaha, Denver and
Cheyenne. From Cheyenne, it was sent
to Salt Lake City and thence to Poca
tello. from which point it will be de
livered to the Portland lodge.
The trowel was consecrated and dedi
cated by the grand lod?o of New York

GERMAN ALLIANCE HINTED
Reported Kins Manuel Will Wed
German Princess.
. LISBON. March S. The report that
Emperor William of Germany will visit
Lisbon this Spring, started the rumor
here that arrangements were beins
made for the marriajte of King Manuel
and- Princess Victoria, only- daughter
of the Emperor.
The early marriage of King Manuel
is reported as a necessity of state, but
it is understood that the English party
at court Is opposed to a German
alliance.

and Other Demonstrations Have
Been Decided Vpon.
SPOKANE. Wash., March (.(Spe
cial.) Lecturere. on the two days"
trip of the wheat demonstration train
of the O. R. & N. and Washington State
College. Which closed tonight at Col
fax,' talked to almost 3000 at
14 different points in Whitman County,
and all of those who, listened to the
lectures, viewed the exhibits from the
State College farm and asked many
questions concerning them.
Many requests for seed-corn and
seeds of other crops' advocated as
profitable to be raised on Summer fal
low land were received, filed and the
seeds will be sent to the farmers re
questing them. Many new names were
added to the already large mailing list,
and requests for college bulletins will
be filled ty the station staff.
' So great has the success of this train
been, and so important the results
shown, that other trains will follow.
Interest in the project has been awak
ened everywhere, and requests for
demonstration trains re already pour-Ting-
in from a large territory. General
Freight Agent Miller received a re
quest from the Pendleton Chamber of
Commerce.
The train today ' drew crowds at
LaCrosse, Hooper, Winona, Endlcott
and Diamonds.
At Endlcott. T. C. Mansfield, a farmer,
complained that he had been dis
criminated against In the shipping of
potatoes and frrain from Endlcott and
at first was very severe in his arraign
ment of . the railroad. - General Agent
Miller made a concilllatory speech, In
which he urged Mansfield ' and - any
other man who had a grievance to
come direct to headquarters of the rail
road and not stand on the street and
howl hie grievance to whoever would
listen.

rior Court, after being in session for eight
days, Judge A. B. Rice presiding, has just
adjourned. Judge Rice being fortunate in
clearing the docket this term. Some of
the case had been on record for several
years. One of the most important suits
tried at thla term was that of Henry
Haverman vs. Charles W. Flanders, sher
iff of this county,, for 00. The plaintiff
.was represented by John Ditchburn, of
