The following maximum wind velocities have occurred during the last 24 hours: North Head, Wash., 72 miles from the south; Seattle, Wash., 48 miles from the south; Tacoma. Wash., 40 miles from the southwest; Spokane, 40 miles from the southwest. The winds at Portland were also strong, but the maximum velocity was only 20 miles at the weather office, while at the Exposition it was 38 miles. The wires to Tatoosh Island are down and tio report has been received from that sta tion. Moderately heavy rains have fallen in Western Oregon and in Western and North ern Washington. The indications are for showers Saturday in Western Oregon and Western Washington, and for generally fair weather east of the Cascade Mountains. The winds have dimin ished to a moderate breeze In all sections. WEATHER FORECASTS. Forecasts made at Portland for the 28 hours ending at midnight. October 7: Portland and vicinity Showers. Three cop ies were sent to Seattle for service upon accredited agents of the Northern Pacific. Great Northern and O. R. & N., and one copy to "Walla "Walla for service upon the "Washington & Columbia River Company. The complaint as completed does not dif fer materially from thejlrst draft pre pared yesterday.
