"Jack" Chesterfield, a well-known artist. is under arrest charged "with criminally assaulting Miss Ottlllia Zebelle, 17 years old. The girl Is now dangerously ill at her home. Miss Zebelle was in Chesterfield's studio. She alleges that the artist locked the door and then, (at the point of a revolver, forced her to submit. Afterward she claims he kept her imprisoned until 11 o'clock at night. She went home and fell in a faint Chesterfield is held without bonds. Unusually high temperatures prevailed In Northern California during the .afternoon. At San Francisco the maximum was 100 deg., which has been equaled before, but never ex ceeded at that station since the beginning of the record kept by the Weather Bureau. A small shower occurred at Cape Flatten-, but elsewhere no rain has fallen In the North Pacific States. The weather, however, is be coming quite unsettled, and cloudiness has in creased generally in Western Oregon.
