The bulk of the Fall and holiday trade of the Jobbing rroceri has been disposed of. Ship ments are heavy, but they are mostly on back orders, and not a great deal of new business is being worked, except In the ordinary staples or to replenish depleted stocks. Price changes In this line during the past week were not nu merous, the most important being the advance of 20 per cent in sugar. Coal oil went up lc, and Eastern lard declined Saturday, the ruling Quotation being 13Uc The demand for canned fruits is good for this time of the year. Reports continue to confirm the estimates of a short pack. If the Spring demand comes up to expectations the clean-up will be very close. Many rrades are already out of the market, and stocks of nearly every variety sacked are badly broken. Tomatoes are firm, although no higher. Corn is un changed, but is expected to advance soon. Teas are very strong in both primary, and European markets. Locally, the situation Is unchanged, although Improvement is looked for when January delivery commences. The rice market is unusually strong. South ern graoes have been materially strengthened by the reports of damage in the South. The 1002 salmon pack of the Coast has been estimated at 3,30,000 cases, or 1,200,000 cases short of the 1001 pack. The 1001 pack was al most entirely cleaned up, and as the demand this year has been equally good, there Is every probability that suoDlIes will be cleaned up tetre the new pack Is available. id ins In produce Is at high-water mark. ind will continue heavy until Christmas. The fruit and vegetable markets are fully supplied with all seasonable varieties. Saturday's re ceipts included a carload of California lemons. Fine huckleberries are in the market from the vicinity of Tacoma, and sell well at 10c Ap ples are In oversupply, and as receipts are largely Inferior, sales are made with difficulty. Poultry is active. "Chickens came in freely Saturday, and the street cleaned up well be fore nlcht. Ducks and geese are moving sat isfactorily. Some turkeys are coming in. and find good sale. Egg receipts were heavier Saturday, and most sales of Oregon ranch were at 321c. Eastern are In good supply, and move readily at , a lower prlce. Butter, moves' slowly, and quota tions are barely steady. Cheese is firm. The wheat market Saturday was reported to be in practically a stagnant condition. Export ers quoted club at 7071c and bluestem at 7S "Be, as the nominal shipping values. The mills have been buying some wheat lately at an ad vance over shippers quotations. Not a great deal of wheat Is offered, as stocks in first hands arc strongly held. Exporters or millers requiring grain generally have to pay farmers' prices. Some brands of Valley flour have been advanced, the-range of quotations standing at ?3 40W3 . The hoj market Is very dull, with neither dealers, brewers, nor growers showing a dispo sition to do business. The market Is weak or -etrong from the -viewpoint .of the buyer or "the seller. However, the last sales made show -no alteration. . , . - Hops, Wool, Hides, Etc. HOPS Choice. 25H26Ue ner pound: prime to choice. 244S25c: prime, 24c: medium, 22 23c per pound.
