The Crucible Steel Company of America Is proceeding rapidly toward Its founda tion. On Monday the directors of the Benjamin Atha & Illlnssworth Company, of Harrison. N. J4 which wa3 the last of the important companies to hold out, met In Newark and decided to grant the promoters an option on the:r crucible and open hearths plant and cast their for- lu tunes with the other concerns. The new company will have an au thorised capital of S5O,o60.O0&, divided equally into common and 7 per cent cu mulative preferred shares, and its organi zation is looked for within 20 days. It organization will bo oh the same lines as the American Sheet Steel Company. Of tne 5Zo,a,w preferred stock, from $15. 000,000 to $20,000,000 will be used in buying the plants, Tsrhilo the balance will b - placed on the market to provide working capital. The preferred stock at par will carry a bonus of equal amount of common stock. The new company will control 90 per cent or tne output or crucible steel made In ther United States, and will combine 18 companies. These are the Label Steel Company, Singer, Nlmick & Co., Howe. Drown & Co., Limited; Crescent Steel Company, Allqulppa Steet Company, and Anderson, Dupuy & Co.. and Park Steel Company, all of Pittsburg; Cumberland Steel & Tih-Plate Company, Cumberland. Md.; the Benjamin Atha & Ulingsworth Company, Harrisburg, N. J.; Spauldlng & Jennings Company, of the "West Befgen Steel "Works. Jersey City. N. J.: Sander eon Brothers Steel Company, Syracuse, N. Y,; Burgess Steel & Iron "Works. Portsmouth, O., arid the Beaver Falls Steel Works. Beaver Falls, Pa. Appraisements of the Arms that are to go into the new combination have been practically completed. Another constitu ent property has agreed" to accept stock for their plants, while the inventories will iit paid for in cash. The combine plants will have a total capacity of 250, 000 tons annually of the finest crucible and open hearts In the ctfuntry. Charles W. Dickinson Dead. NEW YORK. July 4. Charles Wesley Dickinson, Inventor of the geometry C lathe, which made u successful counter feiting of hank notes impossible, is dead at his home in Bellovllle, N. J., agod 77 years. He manufactured machines for bank-note engraving for the United States and jnany foreign governments. Coudert-Kussner. NEW YORK. July 4. Miss Amelia Kyssner, the painter of miniatures, was married to Captain Dupont Coudert, in St. Patrick's Cathedral last night. WEATHER CONDITIONS. The area of high pressure continues central off the North Pacific Coast and appears to be Increasing in energy and moving northward. The barometer Is lowest over the heated val leys of California, and it is also relatively low oVer the Great Salt Lake Basin. Moderately heavy rains have fallen during the lat 24 hours over Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho, and at Walla Walla a thunder storm oc curred. The temperature has fallen over ail woctlons of the Pacific Northwest, and it Is unseasonably cool In this district.
