issue for any of suid lands unless there shull he pre
ented to the Secretary of the Interior a statement,
certified by the governor of the. Male of Minnesota,
that such twenty miles huvo been completed iu the

certainty the points v here such twenty miles hey in

See. 3. And be it further enacted, That when tint
suid road shall be definitely luenUd, tiuda plat (hereof

hereby granted shall uol thereafter be subject lo set

of way over suid funds of the United Stales for
the purpose aforesaid is hereby granted lo said slate
to the width of one hundred feet on each side of said
road as located.
1hc. 5. Aud be It further enacted, That the said
lauds hereby granted when patented lo said slate, shall
be subject lo the riixposul of said state for the purpos
es aforesaid, and for no other; and the said railroad
shall be aud remain a public highway for the use of
ihe government of the United Stales, free from ull
toll or otlur charge, for the Ininspm taliu of uuy
properly or troops of the United States.

Kec. 7. And be it further enacted. That Ihe Unhed '
States mail shall he tiuusported over suid roiid, under
the direction of tho l'ost tttliee Department, ut such
price ns congress may by law direct ; 1'rovided, That
until such price is fixed by law the Postmaster (iener
ul shall have 4he power to determine the same.

which may hereafter he constricted from any point
on the lluy of Superior, iu the state of Wisconsin,
shall be permitted to connect with the said railroad,
for the construction of which the suid hinds are here
by grauted, at any point which tnnv be selected by the
president and directors of said railroad company so

railroad company so permitted to connect shall have
the right aud privilege to transport, or have trauspor
ted. over the truck of said rail road, fur Ihe c met rue
